Introduction

Hi, I'm Tom Greenway from Worcester in the UK, I'm 38 years old and married to lovely Warin!

But currently living in Thailand for 3 months, lucky me!!

Yesterday Warin attempted a very high and dangerous ravine crossing!

I have started this blog to share some of my thoughts and help keep myself on track for the things I want to achieve.

I intend to talk about the 5 things that currently interest me most;

1. Being an entrepreneur and the art of making money.
2. Being creative.
3. Being charitable.
4. Being green.
5. Having fun.

#1 Being an entrepreneur: With my first item in the list also summed up as 'making dosh' I will talk about my publishing business www.3dtotal.com, and general findings of running a business and being as profitable, successful, ethical and fair to everyone involved as possible. I want to make as much money as possible in my life to support items 2,3,4 and 5!

One of our successful books!

#2 Being Creative: Currently I'm fumbling about with my Nikon D7000 in Thailand at the moment, I really want to improve my photography, below are some of the best shots of this holiday so far, and here's great guide I just found for beginners like me http://berniesumption.com/photography/beginners-guide-for-geeks/

I also want to make more things from wood, I especially like the sound of green woodworking, here's a friends of mine site http://www.benorford.com/ and may do some painting again or something a bit different like learn to make stained glass windows.

Some of my best photos I have taken on this Thai trip so far, camera still set an auto though, lots to learn!

#3 Being Charitable: I am just starting to learn about how I can help others less fortunate, for the last few years I have sponsored a child, donated to water aid and cancer research, probably around £50 per month for the last few years, but it's all a bit anonymous with just seeing a line on my statement each month.

There's tons of options when it comes to charity, but put simply I want to help as many people as possible from any country from suffering and dying. After some research, I really think that I have the potential to save tens of thousands of lives, which is just one of the most incredible things ever, in fact I think we all have the ability to save thousands of others, imaging having that claim put to your name.

Today I took the step and started to research http://www.givingwhatwecan.org/ and http://givewell.org/ I hope these will come up a lot more in this blog in the future, I'm really into the efficiency of giving to get the most 'bang for your buck'. I think efficiency is also the key to a successful business so givewell.org is right up my street.

#4 Being green: This is currently more of a small time hobby for me really, I quite like quirky simple ideas. For example one day I would love to live next to a stream and build little wooden water wheels to provide me with all the hydro-power i needed, by doing this you could save money, be creative, be green and have fun all at the same time!

#5 Having fun: Well it's the key to it all isn't it really, if you enjoy what you are doing you will do it more and better. 'Carpe diem' is the Latin for 'seize the day' it's a little bit cheesy for a blog title and is also taken for a blogger url, but car-pay-dee-um being the phonetic version was free and now it's all mine and it teaches you how to pronounce it properly at the same time!
